A Hamster That Doesn't Run On Carrots

USB toys are all the rage - or at least the USB toymakers wish they were. Personally, I find myself having to either use a USB hub or do a mad juggling act of, 'If I disconnect this, to plug in that, can I still do this?' :-)

I have a system. That system doesn't include a USB hamster wheel. I suppose there are people out there who don't actually have enough things to plug into their computers, and for them, plastic hamsters that run in a wheel according to how fast the person types exist. Distracting? Not a chance! LOL

The hamster comes with a software CD for Windows XP - and Windows XP only. It runs on two AA batteries. It also has an off switch, which is kind of funny, considering that you can just unplug the little fella when he starts annoying you. The fact that there is an off switch should probably be a big, fat warning to everyone who has ever been tempted to plug a hamster wheel into their computer.

One suggested use for this toy is annoying your coworkers. :-)

Installing it into someone's computer when they aren't looking would probably be a good gag. Yes, it does have to be installed. That begs the question, 'Why would I go through the whole installation process for something that I don't actually need?'

You know how that can be. The new program doesn't like one of the programs already running on your computer, or the old programs don't want to let the new program play. Then you have to go in and be a digital diplomat. For some, that whole process may be worth it just so they can have a hamster run alongside their computer.

I know a place where you can get hamsters that don't need a software CD to run and won't use valuable USB ports!
