Here's A Product That Completely Misses The Point
It's a way of going 'barefoot' by putting a thin sheath of material on your feet. It has separations for your toes like toe socks, which sounds so much more uncomfortable than slippers. They're cute, I'll give them that. But isn't the point of going barefoot having naked feet? This idea is like putting a thin sheath over your body when you feel like being naked. Where is the fun?
The advertisement is an exercise in paranoia, as it espouses, "The exhilarating joy of going barefoot without leaving yourself exposed". LOL That is its first point!
Its second point says that the product offers "protection". From what, exactly, are we trying to be protected?
If you aren't willing to take a risk as small as the ones that come from simply having bare feet, then perhaps you should wear your shoes. <sweet smile> After all, these coverings aren't going to protect you from a scorpion sting or broken glass.
If you are in places where there are things like scorpions, broken glass, stickers or hot coals are a hazard, you shouldn't be going barefoot or pretending to be going barefoot. You should have some durable hiking boots on.
The ad's third point is that this product is an "intelligent way to deepen your connection with your natural surroundings".
Mmhm.
I thought for a moment these may actually be good for a day at the beach, but then I remembered flip-flops, which do allow your feet to be mostly uncovered while you are wearing them. Flip-flops don't do weird things with your toes and are easy to slip off when you're feeling a bit daring. You can slip them back on again when you feel the need to retreat to the relative safety of a piece of colorful rubber on your soles.
