Jar Of Sun

Really.

I just wrote about the stupidest item in the universe - Nothing. That means I have used "stupidest" twice, thanks to that particular item - no, three times now - and it isn't even a word! That sort of thing can make you pull out your hair and slap your grandma.

So now, to make up for it, all the cosmic forces in the universe have come together to help me discover the absolute coolest item in the universe - a jar of sun. The cool thing about it is that this is not a poetic concept. It isn't one of those little-kid gifts like "a box of happiness" or "my love tied up in a red ribbon". (Although, if you could package and sell those things, it would be really, really neat. Talk about low overhead.)

No, this really is a jar of sunlight - no kidding. You have to fill it up first. Then, at night, you can use the sunlight.

And no, I am not cracked. Here is the technology behind the magic: a solar cell, a rechargeable battery and little LED lamps. This ordinary-looking jar has all of this cool stuff inside of it, so when you leave it on the windowsill, the cell captures sunlight to run the little lamps. Then you can light the night with your jar of sun.

Pretty cool, huh?

You could give this to your significant other and make them think you were being all poetic and romantic, when you're really just being practical. If they are the practical type, they will be amazed and relieved to find out that you haven't gotten them something stupid. Like Nothing. This is actually something.

It needs to be in direct sunlight for several hours in order to capture all the sunlight it needs to be cool.
