Play for Pain, not Points

It's amazing what you can get people to do. Lots of people sit for long hours performing meaningless tasks that they don't get paid for in order to get points. Marketers even use it to sell products: "Buy enough of these, and you get points, my friend. POINTS. What could be better than points?"

Shocking the heck out of your opponent, that's what. That's where this new little toy comes in, and it should have been invented a long time ago. It's a little tabletop toy game. Or floortop, whichever floats your boat.

Here's how it works. You have two futuristic-looking tanks and two remote controls. The tanks are armed with infrared cannons. You and your opponent shoot each other's tanks. They have high movement capability; well, as much as a tank can, moving forward and backward on their tracks. They can make sharp turns, so you can actually take evasive action, which you will probably want to do, because there is something more than points at stake here. Something primal - pain. Good, old-fashioned pain. Get hit, and you'll see what I mean.

Whenever a tank is hit, it shudders and makes troubling sounds. And there are lights. Six of them. Pretty, pretty lights on top. When you hit your opponent's tank and your shocker is set to low, you knock out only one of his lights. If you are willing to take a more painful shock when you get hit, then you will knock out two of his lights at a time.

You can't even control your tank unless you are in contact with the metal strips that deliver the shock. There are wrist straps that you have to wear to prevent you from dropping and breaking your toy. That was considerate of the manufacturers, wasn't it?
